VENUE INFORMATION
MARRIOTT MISSION VALLEY HOTEL - Our hotel is located near the center of what is considered the
San Diego area. It is on the San Diego River and not far from where, in 1769, the Spanish immigrants
established the first mission in Father Junipero Serra's chain of missions which extended all the way to San
Francisco. The hotel has 350 rooms with balcony views. All rooms have individual climate control, telephone
with message light, color TV, AM/FM alarm clock radio, cable movie channels, in-room pay movies, high-
speed internet access, Sony PlayStation®, WebTV, Coffee maker, iron and ironing board. There is a full
business center. Concierge services, a guest laundry, valet service and Notary services are available. The Cafe
del Sol provides all three meals and has Asian, Latin and unique American foods. There is also a bar. There is
an outdoor swimming pool, a health club, whirlpool and sauna. Pizza Hut® pizza and Starbucks® Coffee are
available.
SAN DIEGO AREA ATTRACTIONS - San Diego County has many well known attractions: the San Diego
Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, Sea World®, the USS Midway Museum and several other excellent museums
focusing on aviation, automobiles, art and history. The outdoor attractions, the Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, the
Midway and Sea World®, each cover a good sized area and require easy mobility to enjoy. As part of your
registration package we will provide each of you who desires one a two day pass for the San Diego trolley
which passes directly by the hotel. The trolley will take you many places in the San Diego area including two
large shopping malls not far away from our hotel. It will also take you down town, to the San Diego Bay, the
Midway aircraft carrier museum and even to the Mexican border if you are of that mind. Crossing into Mexico
is only for the strong of heart. If you think you'd like to do that, please be sure to bring your passport as you
will need it.
SAN DIEGO AIRPORT - Lindbergh Field is San Diego's airport and it is located almost down town, between San Diego Bay and the US Marine Corps Recruit Depot, about 6 miles from our hotel. Lindbergh Field is serviced by virtually all major airlines.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS - Given the proximity of the airport to the hotel, ground
transportation is neither lengthy nor expensive. Taxis are available as are several commercial shuttle services.
Taxi service from the airport to the hotel should be about $30. Shuttle service costs bout $11 per person.
NO SOUVENIR GIFTS - Souvenir gifts will not be provided. These are not really gifts but are paid for from
your registration fee. There is a good deal of pressure to keep the registration fee for the UGIC Session as low
as possible and this helps.
DRESS FOR MEN & WOMEN - The Thursday and Friday night dinners will be coat & tie for men and street length dresses for the ladies. The business sessions will be Coat and Tie for men. The lunches will be coat and tie for the men and street length dresses, slacks, etc. for the ladies. The Saturday Night Banquet is formal with Black Tuxedo or White Dinner Jacket for men and long or cocktail dresses for the ladies. Constantine jewel
should be worn at all functions. Constantine Sash should be worn at the formal banquet on Saturday evening.
